EMDR Therapy

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a specialized therapy we offer for people whose lives are still shaped by past trauma. This can include abuse, accidents, medical events, war experiences, natural disasters, or ongoing neglect and fear.

Trauma can leave you with flashbacks, nightmares, intrusive images, body tension, or a sense of being on edge all the time. EMDR helps your brain reprocess these memories so they become less overwhelming and less present in your everyday life.

During EMDR, we guide you through recalling parts of the distressing memories while using bilateral stimulation - usually side-to-side eye movements, taps, or sounds. This supports the brain's natural healing processes, similar to how it works during certain sleep stages. You stay in control throughout; we move at a pace that feels safe and manageable.

Many people notice that after EMDR, the memories are still there, but they feel more distant and less charged. You may find it easier to sleep, concentrate, and respond to stress without being pulled back into the past. If talk therapy alone hasn't brought the relief you need, EMDR can be a powerful next step in healing from trauma.
